The Novartis Foundation is a philanthropic organization aiming to have a sustainable impact on the health of low-income communities. We tackle global health challenges through a mix of programmatic work, health outcomes research, and their translation into policy.
We are convening local and global partners and work with them hand-in-hand to catalyze sustainable healthcare models to improve access and health outcomes.
Around the world we are working to address hypertension, and related cardiovascular complications, and to accelerate efforts to eliminate leprosy and malaria by focusing on interventions that aim to interrupt transmission.
Digital technology has the power to innovate the way healthcare is delivered, while ensuring people remain at the center of care, and is a key enabler in all our programs.
Our work is grounded in evidence and evaluation. We continually evaluate and adapt our programs to achieve the greatest impact.
Why we do it
Our overall health impacts our ability to reach our full potential in life. We believe that where you live should not negatively impact your health due to reduced or no access to quality healthcare.
One of the main problems in many low-income countries is inadequate healthcare systems, and this involves much more than just medicines. Often there is a lack of qualified personnel, suitable infrastructure or effective planning and management skills.
If large-scale public health problems in these countries are to be tackled effectively, then relevant actors across society have to engage, and not just within the health sector. By collaborating with local and global partners across a range of sectors, we can co-design and implement holistic solutions for healthier low-income communities.
